FEDERAL MINIMUM WAGE
Let's hope there are not many that think we need the Federal government to raise the minimum wage. It does't take a rocket scientist to understand that is not the way to go. Raise the amount McDonalds pays their employee and they raise the cost of your happy meal to make up the difference. Raise the amount Wal-Mart has to pay a stockman and Wal-Mart is going to make up for it by raising the amount you pay for your school supplies and underwear.
So at the end of the day you don't have anymore in you pocket because you are paying more to make it up. Look back on history, When I made $2.50 an hour I bought a loaf a bread for 25 cents, now I make $10 and I pay $1.50 for a loaf of bread. What have I gained? When I made $2.50 I paid 39 cents for a gallon of gas, now I make $10 and I pay $3 for a gallon of gas. You don't get ahead by increasing minimum wage, you get ahead by keeping the cost of products down. Think about it. IT is a given if the minimum wage goes up the prices of what we buy will go up!
WHERE DO YOU STAND?
I am not a huge fan of using personal beliefs and values as a "litmus test" which is done far too often in today's political environment. However, I refuse to vote for someone until I know where they stand on issues relating to the values I hold dear. What is you stance on gay marriage, abortion and life decisions?
FEDERAL MINIMUM WAGE
Please address your thoughts on what you think the Federal Minimum Wage should be in specific dollar amts. Please also state which theory of economic research floating around that you believe in and how it supports your answer. Some days I think I'm the only one in the 3rd district who believes the federal minimum wage needs to be raised. Although there is the tax credit for those who still have children in the house. Still Nebraskans need to make something before you can lower their taxes. Just one person's opinion.
