From the Road: Journal Entries from the Campaign Trail

Tuesday in the Park
2006-07-07

One could have changed the words to Chicago’s “Saturday in the Park” to “Tuesday in the Park” to match the fun mood of Lexington’s “Old Fashioned Fourth of July.”

At around 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Scott arrived in Lexington to partake in the city’s Fourth of July festivities. A teen Christian rock group doled out tunes in the center of the park and read a script regarding the foundation of our country while two members sang “America the Beautiful.”

As the music played in the park, Scott went table-to-table, talking with people about his candidacy. In addition to meeting with workers at the Tri-County Hospital, Scott played a bean-toss game, and almost participated in the dunk tank, except he didn’t have any extra clothes.
